School Description:
The Grauer School, one San Diego's premier prep schools, was founded in 1991 by Dr. Stuart Grauer. Our students have matriculated to the nation's finest colleges and universities. Our green campus and diverse programs accommodate 150 students in grades six through 12.
Imagine your child in the front row of every class. The Grauer School is a leader in the nation's highly regarded Small Schools movement, which allows for the individualized attention that has been largely lost in other middle and high schools. Backed by many years of research, families in schools with fewer than 200 students find that students thrive because they are better able to connect with each other and with their teachers.
Students spend their days in a Socratic environment on our green, five-acre campus in Encinitas, CA school is in session from late August through mid-June.
Our program requires students to complete the 'a-g' admission requirements of the University of California, and provides enrichment well beyond typical academic standards. All courses, including academics and electives, are approved by the University of California and meet criteria for NCAA eligibility.
Students spend a minimum of one week each semester on one of our global Expeditions, learning about different cultures and customs. Each is required to complete 50 hours of community service, and a total of five weeks of Expeditions before graduating. Most students complete more of both. We are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS).
