The Regional Meeting, which alternates from North to South in successive years, is an event where teachers and middle level administrators can hear about and share with each other what’s currently going on in the CAIS schools in the region.
The day begins with a continental breakfast followed by two back-to-back 90-minute workshops organized by grade levels at the elementary level (preK-5/6), disciplines at the secondary level (6-8 and 9-12), as well as workshops of general interest. Lunch is included in the registration fee, and the day concludes with a 75-minute session, which includes roundtables in the grade levels and disciplines that gather teachers from multiple CAIS schools.
Additionally, we invite a Featured Speaker, who speaks at each of the three sessions. We are very pleased to announce that the speaker for 2013 is: Dr. Yong Zhao, Presidential Chair and Associate Dean for Global Education in the College of Education, University of Oregon. Dr. Zhao is an internationally known speaker, and the author of Catching Up or Leading the Way: American Education in the Age of Globalization and the recently published World Class Learners: Educating Creative and Entrepreneurial Students.
The majority of presenters are teachers and administrators from CAIS schools. If you are interested in presenting and your school is a CAIS member, or provisional school, click on “More Information” below to be taken to a Call for Workshop Proposals and a schedule of the day. If you are not a member of a CAIS school, contact Sandee Mirell, Director of Professional Development at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for proposal submission is Monday, November 5, 2012.
Registration for attendance at the meeting will open in early January. The fee per person for three workshops, continental breakfast and lunch is $95. Late registration, depending upon available space is $105 per person. Questions about attendance may be directed to Genevieve Goetz, Administrative Assistant at email@example.com.
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED. Onsite registration will not be accommodated as the event is full. Thank you.
