Preschool Substitute Teacher

Encompassing most of a block on St. Andrews Place, and a preschool on Gramercy Place, St. James’ is comprised of 365 students and over 73 employees, whom we refer to as “staffulty” due to the belief that everything at St. James’ is the curriculum and that all employees offer instruction and modeling to young people in some way.

St. James’ currently has an available position for a Preschool Substitute Teacher. The position offers daily hot lunch service, provided by our hot lunch vendor. Preschool Teachers are part of a dynamic team and implement an engaging curriculum in innovative, exciting classroom settings. The Preschool Substitute Teacher reports to Preschool Director Pat Joseph Thomas, Ph.D.


An ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

● Knowledge of child development and experience with children
● Support of differentiation in the classroom, one-on-one work with students
● Ability to meet physical demands of working with young children
● Flexibility and a desire to work in partnership with a teaching team
● Strong classroom management and communication skills
