Substitute Teacher
Position: Substitute Teacher

Reports to: Lower/Upper School Director

Position Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt


Foothill Country Day School seeks an experienced, reliable substitute teacher to join our team of educators. The substitute teacher will direct the classroom by following outlined lessons in the absence of the classroom’s regular teacher. Successful candidates will have previous classroom teaching experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Use lesson plan to cover daily instruction, and materials provided to attain lesson goals
• Direct the classroom, accomplishing curriculum objectives and goals outlined in the lesson plans
• Take attendance, keep classroom and work orderly, and maintain normal classroom procedures
• Comply with all procedures, guidelines, and policies of the school at all time
• Maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students and faculty, including a commitment to confidentiality.

The ideal candidate will have the following educational and work background:

• 4-year degree from an accredited institution
• Previous classroom teaching experience

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

• Detail oriented and able to follow written classroom outlines and written and oral instructions
• Able to communicate effectively with students and faculty/staff
• Confidence and capability to instruct students in the absence of the regular teacher
