Director of Development and Alumni Relations
Description
The Director of Development reports to the Head of School and is a member of the Senior Administrative Team. The Director of Development serves as the senior administrative fundraising professional at the Board of Trustee Advancement Committee meetings. The responsibilities include:

Philanthropic Readiness
Fosters a Culture of Philanthropy throughout the Saint Andrew’s community in alignment with Character Counts values.

Works with the Chair of Advancement and Chair of the Committee on Trustees, to sustain our Culture of Philanthropy among board members.

Works with the Director of Admissions to communicate our Culture of Philanthropy to prospective families.

Philanthropic Planning
Plans annual, capital and endowment campaign giving goals with the Head of School in alignment with the Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School Strategic Plan.

Designs the Development Plan to secure financial support from parents, alumni, past parents, grandparents, faculty/staff, foundations and businesses.

Works with Head of School and CFO to plan for short-term capital needs. Plans to solicit designated short-term capital gifts, as needed.

Works with Head of School to designate all charitable gifts from PAB and various student fundraising activities in alignment with strategic fundraising priorities.

Campaign Management
Designs, implements and executes annual, capital and endowment fundraising.

Annual Fund
Manages prospect research, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for the Annual Fund.

Identifies, recruits, trains and manages key volunteers to be effective Ambassadors on behalf of Saint Andrew’s.
• Supports Board President to achieve 100% board participation in the Annual Fund.
• Supports the Head of School for Head Circle asks, by providing donor profile research, strategy and consultation to support the achievement of Head Circle goals.
• Recruits, trains and manages grade level Annual Fund Ambassadors to foster 100% parent participation in the Annual Fund.
• Recruits, trains and manages Faculty/Staff Ambassadors to foster 100% participation in the Annual Fund.
• Nurtures the Grandparent Giving Circle and executes annual grandparent solicitation in early December.
• Recruits Alumni Board leadership for alumni activities. Fosters Alumni and Alumni Parent giving and executes annual alumni giving in early December.

Manages donor appreciation events including the fall Gratitude Get Together ($2,500 and up) and the February Heart & Soul Dinner ($5k and up).

Capital Campaign
Manages capital campaign engagement with JEC, Board and Staff through all campaign phases. Supports the Head of School, Rector and campaign volunteers as requested.

Participates in the design and execution of strategic planning to achieve campaign goals based on data analysis, donor profiles and prospect research.

Plans cultivation events, appreciation and recognition events with support from campaign volunteers.

Prepares campaign solicitation letters, solicitation materials, thank you letters and campaign leadership reports.

Works with campaign consultants as needed.

Endowment
Reviews Endowment Fund goals with Head of School and Development Committee.

Provides recognition and appreciation for donors to the Endowment Funds, including annual reporting of the use of endowment funds and the impact of their gift.

Works with the CFO to ensure that gift acceptance policies, gift accounting and gift reporting for endowment funds are implemented according to best practices.

Development Communications
• Responsible for photographing, writing, designing and producing all development solicitation and appreciation materials including letters, cards, thank you materials, Schoology posts and enewsletters.

• Responsible for Development enewsletters including:
Our Giving Community (Three times a year)
Imagine the Possibilities (Two times a year)
Alumni Circle News (Two times a year)

• Collaborates with the Director of Communications on the Annual Report on Giving to provide donor recognition and demonstrate the impact of gifts.

Gift Accounting
Works with the Business Office to accurately record all philanthropic gifts to Saint Andrew’s including for the Annual Fund, Capital Campaign and Endowment. Promotes best practices in gift processing, accounting and reporting. Provides accurate documentation to auditors as requested.

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with training and experience.
