Who we are

At San Domenico, we believe that what students do with their education is as important as their academic performance. Everyday we encourage our students to not just study, but also to reflect on their learning, find their purpose, and celebrate in community, because an exceptional education, where values and academics join together, creates more than just great students Ė it develops great people. San Domenico is a K-12, co-ed school, with international boarding and day students in our Upper School.

Purpose Statement

San Domenico Middle School teachers are committed to educating, engaging, and empowering middle school students, both inside and outside of the classroom, providing them with a solid foundation for high school and beyond. Faculty must demonstrate thorough knowledge of their subject matter and effectiveness in teaching. The middle school is grounded in student-centered classrooms, which stimulate student learning daily through a variety of innovative instructional methodologies. We are a 1-1 iPad school.

Applicants for this position will teach three sections of English, which meets five days a week. Applicants should have knowledge of and experience with the Lucy Calkins model of teaching reading and writing across the curriculum. The literature and writing-based curriculum is taught with emphasis on the Lucy Calkins approach, and grammar instruction is reinforced through the writing process. Essential skills include writing, critical thinking and questioning, annotating, organization, and use of the iPad for school work. Classroom management and digital citizenship require close attention and instruction, and therefore experience teaching middle school is required.
