San Domenico is a K-12, co-ed school, with international boarding and day students in our Upper School.

Purpose Statement
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and accomplished high school teacher who can teach courses ranging from Algebra through AP Calculus, serve as a mentor to a small group of students, moderate a co-curricular activity and participate in Upper School activities that support the divisional program. He or she will be experienced in numerous modalities of instruction in which learning is academically rigorous as well as engaging, lively, and communication-based.

Responsibilities of an Upper School Math Teacher
The Schoolís faculty strives to set for its students an example of high ethical standards, moral behavior, and devotion to excellence. This responsibility involves the following:
To maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect which encourages students to risk the questions, the opinions, and mistakes necessary to learn.
To offer students clear educational objectives for each course supported by appropriate assignments, activities, and evaluation.
To accurately assess each studentís progress and inform the student, the parents, the academic mentor, and the appropriate administrator immediately of any serious difficulty.
To show concern for and nurture the studentís intellectual, social, emotional, ethical, and aesthetic development.

A teacherís effectiveness in the programs of the School includes various activities in addition to teaching and classroom duties, including but not limited to:
Teaching load: 4 - 5 classes
Readiness to act as a mentor
Participation in and support of school activities
Providing extra help to students who need it
Communication of suggestions directly to the administration
Encouragement of the efforts of colleagues
Concern for the appearance of the classroom and of the grounds
Promptness in meeting all School obligations (arrival in good time, meeting classes, returning papers),
Flexibility and cooperation in furthering academic or extracurricular programs.
Attendance at School activities, such as plays, concerts, athletic events, etc., is very strongly encouraged.
Regular attendance at faculty meetings and open houses is expected and required
Some evening and weekend work

Qualifications
Bachelorís degree in math or related subject
Previous experience teaching a variety of Mathematics courses at the high school level
Proficiency with technology

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in related subject or education; California Single Subject Teaching Credential Ė Math
Previous experience working with international students

Compensation
Salary commensurate with experience, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/matching 403b retirement plan, daily lunch.
