Kindergarten Lead Teacher

The Buckley School, Los Angeles’ oldest K-12 coeducational learning institution, has an opening for a Kindergarten Lead Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. This position is responsible for all aspects of teaching the kindergarten curriculum and managing a Lower School homeroom. This position includes partnering with another lead teacher in the homeroom as well as maintaining ongoing communication with parents, writing prose reports, collaborating extensively with the other kindergarten homeroom lead teachers, and maintaining the vision for this critical entry point into the Buckley Lower School.

• Bachelors’ degree
• Masters or Credential in Early Elementary Education
• Strong writing, editing, and spelling skills
• Previous early childhood/primary level teaching experience
• Demonstrated competency in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
• Proficiency with classroom technology including but not limited to use of SMART Board and iPads

Preferred candidates will have:
• Familiarity with Singapore Math and/or Math in Focus: The Singapore Approach
• Demonstrated leadership in diversity, multiculturalism, inclusion, equity and social justice
• Demonstrated understanding of diverse learning styles and 21st century skills
• Familiarity with the Responsive Classroom
• Familiarity with writing workshop and reading workshop
• Experience with classroom technology including use of Smart Boards and document cameras
