Full Time Hebrew Teacher
Description
Come teach Hebrew with us next fall!

You teach Hebrew well because you care deeply about students, think hard about how people learn a second language, and enjoy creating an inspirational classroom environment. You believe in the importance of Hebrew and are passionate about helping students deepen their Jewish/Israel identity through the study of Hebrew.

The Jewish Community High School of the Bay needs a professional educator like you to teach Hebrew full time starting in August 2019. Our school utilizes the “Bishvil Ha-ivirit” Hebrew program (formerly called NETA). The ideal candidate will be an experienced Hebrew-as-a-second-language teacher with an undergraduate degree and has experience teaching Hebrew in a Jewish Day School setting.

Qualified candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S.

When you join our Hebrew department you will:

-teach four classes of students developing Hebrew literacy through engaging with a variety of classical and modern Hebrew texts Hebrew and diverse instructional strategies

-have time during the school day to prepare great lessons and give students the individual help they need

-be supported by an engaged Chair, Learning Specialist, and School Counselor to help you focus on your teaching

-work alongside colleagues who will both push you to be a better teacher and welcome your help in improving their teaching

-work with supportive administrators who encourage innovative teaching, expect professional growth, and embrace research based pedagogy

-support students and the JCHS community by engaging in life outside the classroom through activities such as club advising, student mentoring and attending school events

-be directly involved in creating a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive environment by differentiating instruction, supporting diverse learners, and implementing a wide-ranging and diverse curriculum

As a pluralistic Jewish high school, JCHS’ students represent the diversity of Jewish practice and identity in the Bay Area. Faculty commitment to the mission of the school is essential, but religious affiliation is not a factor in hiring. We believe our students learn best from a diverse faculty and extended professional community and welcome people of any race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation and marital status to come work with our students.

If this sounds like a community of learners you would like to join, email a cover letter and resume as one PDF document to: [email protected]
