Overview of Position:
The successful candidate will report to the Middle School Division Head and work closely with students in sixth through eighth grades as well as members of the Spanish Department.

Primary Responsibilities:
Plan, teach, and evaluate three daily Spanish lessons in grades sixth, seventh, and eighth, with one class being a heritage speaker course
Attend frequent collaboration and planning meetings with the Spanish Department to ensure a cohesive delivery of the world language program
Communicate effectively with parents
Teach a weekly elective (topic of your choice)
Serve as advisor for twelve eighth grade students
Supervise advisees during three afternoon Study Halls
Oversee “Family” of mixed grade students once a week
Serve on the eighth grade level team with ongoing collaboration with other grade team members
Participate in a weeklong overnight experiential study trip
Collaborate with learning specialists in working with students with learning needs
Write narrative reports for students
Use technology as an instructional tool

The candidate must have:
Three or more years of experience teaching Spanish language and culture, preferably at the middle school level
Experience with Comprehensible Input strategies and TPRS would be helpful
Experience with Heritage Speakers helpful
Commitment to early adolescent education and social/emotional development
Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal, with prospective and current parents and colleagues
Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom community that allows for a multitude of perspectives to be heard and respected
Strong organizational and record keeping skills
Ability and willingness to work in teams
Excellent interpersonal skills
Awareness of differentiated learning and teaching styles
Sense of humor
Demonstrated professional development in equity and justice work, and antibias instruction
Willingness to work with library and tech department to integrate various media into the curriculum
Commitment to anti-bias learning
Duties school-wide include:
Participation on committees as needed and appropriate
Being part of a grade-level team
Responsibilities that are part of middle school life, e.g. team and staff meetings, weekend and admissions events
