Associate Director of Development
Description
About Presidio Knolls School
Presidio Knolls School (PKS), founded in 2008, has grown rapidly since its start as a two-room preschool, establishing a unique position in Bay Area’s independent school community through its blend of progressive education and Mandarin immersion. Today, the school enrolls 350 students in preschool through sixth grade and will continue to add one grade per year until 2020 when it will be a fully enrolled preschool through eighth grade.

The highly engaged parent community at PKS is seen as one of the school’s greatest strengths. Current fundraising efforts include the annual Red Envelope campaign, which this year seeks to raise $500,000, and a Capital Campaign that has delivered more than $19 million in new pledges within the last 5 years.

Presidio Knolls School seeks an Associate Director of Development to build on and strengthen a culture of philanthropy that will secure the school’s planned growth and establish a sustainable stream of funding. Working closely with an experienced mentor/ advancement consultant and reporting to the Head of School, this is a full-time, exempt position. It is a great opportunity to be part of building a robust development program.

Primary responsibilities
• Support all aspects of the PKS development program, including the fall launch of the Red Envelope Annual Fund, the ongoing Capital Campaign now in its public phase, and other fundraising initiatives. Collaborate with the consultant, senior staff, the Board of Trustees, and selected parent volunteers to achieve fundraising results.

• Assist in the creation of a comprehensive, sustainable annual giving plan that outlines the strategies, processes, and events that will be used to achieve the school’s short and long-term goals. This plan will be crafted in collaboration with the consultant and senior staff and then presented to and approved by the Board of Trustees.

• Help implement a new stewardship program that focuses on the school’s current and future donors and helps to deepen their connection and commitment to PKS.

• Assist in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of families in support of the PKS Red Envelope Annual Fund. Manage the annual appeal including processing appeal letters, event invitations, gift acknowledgements, and reminders.

• Build and maintain strong relationships, as appropriate, with donors, parents, strategic leaders, the Board of Trustees, Board Committees, or other leadership for the continuous stewardship of major gifts.

• Manage the school’s database and reporting systems in coordination with the Business Office, Admissions, and Registrar for accurate gift accounting, gift acknowledgement and pledge reminder systems. Maintain impeccable donor records that support all development initiatives.

• Create and distribute various monthly reports as requested that reflect activity and performance towards goals.

• Embrace the mission, vision, values, and pedagogy of PKS in order to serve as a knowledgeable and committed spokesperson.

• Participate fully in the life of the school and its events, serving as a trusted ambassador and spokesperson when needed. Perform additional activities as may be required, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred
• Minimum of 2-4 years of development experience, preferably at an independent school
• Familiarity with capital campaigns a plus
• Proficiency with InResonance (Generations) or similar donor database
• Ability to work independently and as a member of multi-functional and diverse teams
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A growth mindset, curiosity, and a sense of humor!

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

To apply, please email your resume and letter of interest with the subject as “PKS Associate Development Director”.
