Fine Arts Teacher
TK-8 Fine Arts Teacher

Sonoma Country Day School seeks a full-time dynamic Visual Arts Teacher for the elementary grades. The arts are a focus at SCDS, and our commitment is to exposing students to a wide range of techniques and media. The successful candidate will be both an educator and a practicing artist, with the ability to present a portfolio of work to demonstrate expertise. Additionally, the successful candidate will exhibit the disposition to grow in his/her craft and will routinely expand his/her knowledge of art and technical skills with the purpose of bringing this back to the classroom.

The art department has two members and the successful candidate will collaborate with a veteran faculty member to teach a variety of grades, from TK to 8th.

Desired qualifications and attributes:
-Minimum three years teaching
-Independent school experience preferred
-BA in fine arts, MFA a plus
-Ability to organize and present art exhibitions, at school and in the community
-Professional communication skills and enthusiasm for collaborating with other teachers to plan instruction and engage in school-wide initiatives
-Desire to participate in the life of the school outside of the classroom
