STEM Teacher
Description
Cathedral School for Boys seeks a passionate and motivated teacher interested in working with others to create and implement an emerging STEM curriculum in the Middle School. The program will incorporate elements of robotics, engineering, coding, math, and technology which build upon an engineering curriculum already in place in the Lower School.


Key Responsibilities:
(The primary tasks, functions and deliverables of the role)

• Support and act in accordance with the School’s Mission and values
• Work collaboratively with instructional technology, science, and math teachers to implement an evolving STEM program in both the Lower and Middle Schools
• Plan, model, and teach effective use of technology in a variety of settings with both students and teachers with an emphasis on iPads, making, project-based learning, coding, and innovation in the classroom
• Deliver STEM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods in both divisions
• Work directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of STEM initiatives and curriculum
• Keep apprised of current developments and best practices in the areas of curriculum, pedagogy, and theory related to engineering and technology instruction
• Integrate digital literacy and citizenship through direct instruction and teacher collaboration
• Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion
• Engage in self-reflection and professional development through goal setting, professional development opportunities, and ongoing dialog with the Director of Curriculum

Other Duties:

• Supervise appropriate weekly duties
• Serve as an academic advisor to a group of 8-10 Middle School students
• Attend student support meetings, division meetings, and full-faculty meetings

Required:
Bachelor’s degree
1-2 years’ teaching experience in instructional technology or science
Interest and passion for engineering
Familiarity with iPads, Blackbaud, and general audio-visual setup and a willingness to become proficient in other products as necessary

Preferred:
Advanced degree in education or content area
3-5 years teaching experience in instructional technology or science
Teaching experience in science, math, engineering, or technology, or work in a related field
Training in engineering
Experience with iPads, Blackbaud, and general audio-visual setup and a willingness to become proficient in other products as necessary
