2nd and 5th Grade Humanities Teacher
Description
Mount Tamalpais School (MTS), a K-8 independent school serving up to 240 students in Mill Valley, California is looking for a one-year leave replacement 2nd and 5th grade humanities teacher. This teacher will have the opportunity to work with outstanding co-teachers and a dynamic leadership team to teach reading, writing, and social studies at two grade levels.

Our mission calls on us to develop “knowledge and goodness” and to be “inspiring and nurturing” in our work as educators. To this end, this humanities teacher will teach and co-lead the 2nd grade homeroom. While implementing the Readers and Writers workshop and TCI social studies curriculum, we are also working to incorporate more project based learning, interdisciplinary experiences, and technology integration. We also place a significant emphasis on social emotional learning through Responsive Classroom and Toolbox.

Job Responsibilities
- Co-teach 2nd and 5th grade humanities courses
- Co-lead 2nd grade homeroom
- Other on campus duties assigned to all faculty
- Be a part of the lower school team, reporting to the Head of Lower School

Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
- A BA or BS in a relevant field. Advanced degree(s) preferred.
- Two years of teaching experience.

- Ability to work with a wide range of individuals
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
