Music Teacher, Toddler-Grade 6
Gillispie School, a Toddler-Grade 6 school in the village of La Jolla is seeking a full-time music teacher with a strong choral background and piano skills to begin in the 2019-20 school year. Music is taught to all grade levels and includes work in music history and music theory.† The curriculum involves performances so understanding how to arrange and organize is key. The music teacher will direct or co-direct productions throughout the year. Opportunity to provide before and after-school musical enrichment programs is available.

Important responsibilities include:
- Develop in students an appreciation of music
- Discover and develop the musical talents of students
- Develop student knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music
- Provide direction, organization, and overall leadership for musical productions/performances
- Teach techniques of vocal expression and basic instrumental performance in recorder, ukulele, piano and/or other areas of expertise

Important qualities and requirements include:
- A bachelorís degree in music education or related field; a masterís degree is preferred
- A minimum of six credits in Early Childhood Education is preferred
- Engaging and caring personality†
- Comfort and skill in appropriately using musical composition and recording technology (i.e. GarageBand)
