Learning Resource Center: Learning Specialist
La Jolla Country Day School is currently seeking a passionate, collaborative, experienced, credentialed educator to serve as Learning Resource Center Learning Specialist for the 2019-20 school year.

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) is a community that supports and bridges learning for our students in lower, middle, and upper school. Our mission is to ensure that all La Jolla Country Day School students graduate as independent, self-reliant, and resourceful learners who can manage their own paths. These attributes are acquired by the student in large part due to the success and commitment of the LRC educators and our faculty; they serve as teachers, mentors, and coaches to our students.

The learning specialist reports to the Director of the Learning Resource Center and serves as a member of the LRC. The learning specialist is responsible for supporting the needs of those students requiring supplemental academic instruction for mild to moderate learning needs. The learning specialist is the assigned case manager for those students who may have an IEP/Individualized Learning Plan or a 504 plan as a result of a studentís psycho-educational evaluation and/or need support due to learning preferences. The learning specialist is also responsible for developing learning plans for students who might need their learning extended through enrichment plans.

The learning specialist works closely and collaboratively with classroom educators as a liaison expert to assist in differentiation curriculum, strategies to support, and/or identifications of accommodations. The learning specialist provides both pull-out services and push-in support, and sometimes, when warranted, may teach/lead a class focusing on a specific intervention for a group of students. The learning specialist serves as a teacher, mentor, and coach to our students. They are an integral part to our studentís success.

The learning specialist is in regular contact with the studentís educators, support team, and parents.
