Music Teacher: Preschool & Kindergarten
Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton (SHS) is seeking excellent candidates for our Early Childhood Music & Movement Teacher: Preschool & Kindergarten).

Summary of Position
As a Music Teacher, the incumbent is responsible for teaching basic music/movement to preschool and kindergarten students.

Essential Duties include but are not limited to:
• Responsible for teaching music and movement to preschool/kindergarten students on a weekly basis.
• Supports and when requested, provides music in regular and special performances for school program, Masses and prayer services, community activities, concerts, and festivals.
• Works with department head in regards to planning, evaluating, and revising curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
• Uses effective class management techniques to ensure effective learning.

Minimum Qualifications (The “MUST HAVE” qualifications)
• A clear commitment to the educational philosophy of the school as articulated in the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools and professional behavior based in it. Commitment to equity and inclusion.
• Strong teaching ability; enjoy working with children and adolescents.
• Bachelor’s degree in Music or closely related field and classroom experience with preschool or primary grade-level children.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and teach a curriculum in conjunction with the Fine Arts Department.
• Strong experience with all aspects of production including but not limited to selecting appropriate material and inspiring budding talent.
• Collaborative spirit and collegial nature to support a positive working relationship with teachers.
• Fluency in reading, writing and speaking in English.
• Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Obvious passion for music and movement.
• Willingness to adapt to an existing curriculum as well as contribute ideas to enhance the respective academic programs.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Covid-19 Vaccination Required

Preferred Qualifications (The “NICE TO HAVE” qualifications)
● Master’s degree or higher in Music or related field preferred.
● A valid California single subject teaching credential
● Prior experience working in an independent/Catholic school environment preferred
